Product Description:

The a7R IV is Sony’s first to boast a 61 MP Exmor R CMOS sensor that has a back illuminated design. This works with the BIONZ X image processor to give you massive image resolution both in video and stills. The a7R IV has superior light performance thanks to an anti reflective coating and along with the elimination of a low pass filter. The camera has wide light sensitivity with an ISO range of ISO 100 – 32000 that can be moved all the way up to ISO 50-102400.

The copper wiring layer drastically improves data transmission speeds to allow for more depth in both photo and video. Images now possess 15 stops of dynamic range for better tonal transitions for images. And 14 stops of dynamic range on 4K UHD video. That’s not all, the camera is also fast at what it does. You now have continuous shooting at up to 10 fps at max resolution with full autofocus, for 68 consecutive frames.

The Hybrid AF system has been updated and now makes use of a total of 567 phase detection points that span over 99.7% of the height and 74% of the width. With 425 contrast detection points, you get quick and precise subject tracking. The autofocus works well even in low light and is able to give a quick response even when down to -3 EV. There is a variety of functions that come with this autofocus. Eye AF has the ability to recognize and focus on the eyes of the subject. The touchscreen on the back can be used to focus by touching at a point. You can also use the touchpad focus control allows you to see through the viewfinder while using the rear screen.

The Sony a7R IV can record 4K UHD video with frame rates up to 30 fps. With a 6K resolution, the camera makes use of oversampling without any pixel binning to render far sharper and vibrant results. The video recording is superior because of the camera’s ability to use the entire sensor width. You can record full HD 1080 at 120 fps for smooth slow motion videos. The 100 Mbps XAVC S format is used in both these resolutions with a 4:2:0 sampling. You also have the freedom to get uncompressed HDMI output via the use of an external recorder for 4:2:2 sampling. You also have the option to grab 8MP stills while playback from a video and store them separately.

The body of the Sony a7R IV is finely crafted like all previous models. The magnesium alloy chassis is both strong and lightweight, with some focus on the lens mount for better handling heavier lenses. There is strong weather sealing all over the body for resisting any moisture and dust in harsh weather conditions. The UXGA OLED Tru-Finder EVF has a resolution of 5.76m dots for richer detail along with a high 120 fps refresh rate for smooth viewing. On the back is the 3 inch 1.44m dot LCD which is also a touch screen for intuitive control of both the camera settings and focus. The screen can tilt upwards and down for better viewing.
