The updated SMOOTH-Q5 Ultra Smartphone Stabilizer Combo Kit from Zhiyun has been redesigned for durability, smoother movement, fast mode-switching, and remote control. The same powerful features of its predecessor, including a built-in extension rod, fast mode switching, and gesture control, are present, and it adds voice control and includes a detachable hardware remote controller and an AI tracking module for keeping your subjects in focus and in frame.
Updated Form Factor
Operate the SMOOTH-Q5 Ultra with just one hand with ease, thanks to the improved onboard controls and algorithms. Joysticks, buttons, and wheels control functions like gimbal mode and video recording. The high-torque motors of SMOOTH-Q5 Ultra can support smartphones up to 10.6 oz and 3.3″ wide to provide smooth video movement. It features a new scratch- and stain-resistant finish, and has been redesigned for an even more comfortable grip.
The gimbal display has also been updated to be brighter and easier to read and to use. To extend the gimbal’s reach, you can utilize the built-in 8.5″ extension rod. The included mini tripod can be attached to the bottom of the gimbal handle for stabilized, hands-free setups.
Ultracompact, Folding Design
The SMOOTH-Q5 Ultra can be quickly folded and unfolded without any adjustments. It features a built-in storage clip and is lightweight and portable enough to slip easily into your pocket.
Built-In Fill Light
The gimbal’s arm features a built-in fill light for illuminating dim environments.
It features up to 226 lux output, and its LED design keeps the gimbal cool.
AI Tracking Module
The included AI tracking module provides long-range, hands-free solo recording and precise target recognition and tracking capabilities with multiple remote commands.
It allows you to use additional gestures to control tracking, trigger photo/video start/stop, and to customize framing and tracking. It enables making it easy to capture life’s best moments in an instant.
Onboard Controls and Indicators
- Press the multi-functional control wheel to adjust the brightness of the separately available fill light. Slide to adjust your phone’s focal length.
- Other onboard controls include a power button, photo/video button, MODE button, trigger button, and joystick.
- Gimbal mode indicators allow you to see which mode you are currently using. Available modes include Lock, Follow, Pan Follow, Point of View, and Vortex.
Motion Sensing Control
The gimbal can start shooting photos or videos by directing simple hand gestures toward the camera or by waving the remote for different movement choices.
ZY CAMI Smartphone App
The companion Android/iOS smartphone app features a slew of templates, editing tools, and control functions to fulfill your creative vision.
- The app supports Android 7.0 and iOS 10.0 operating systems and above.
- SmartShooting helps identify your current shooting scenario and offers suggested shooting modes like MagicPano and Livestream Master, which are exclusive to the app.
- Tap on the companion app interface to toggle SmartFollow 3.0 and ensure your subject remains centered.
- Smart editing templates, background music, special effects, and other tools can enhance your video. Split-screen comparisons and BTS camera movement can show you how to best move the camera to mimic the template format.
Detachable Remote Controller
A new optional detachable remote controller provides all the controls onboard the gimbal handle, but from up to 32.8′ away via Bluetooth.
It stores in the gimbal handle and is available separately.
Remote, Gesture, and Voice Control
Remotely controlling the SMOOTH-Q5 Ultra, such as switching your filming orientation from landscape to portrait, can be done in four different ways:
- Changing modes is as easy as pressing a button, so you can transition from filming panoramic scenery to filming a TikTok or Instagram video
- Upgraded voice controls allow you to control still capture, record trigger, and orientation switching.
Power
The built-in battery supply powers the device for up to 13.5 hours, and a single USB-C input can recharge it in approximately 2 hours or serve as a firmware update port. Even with the fill light on, the gimbal can operate for up to 5.5 hours.
